What should be a cozy and fun-filled weekend deep in the English countryside takes a sinister turn in Ruth Ware's suspenseful, compulsive, and darkly twisted psychological thriller.

Sometimes the only thing to fear...is yourself.

When reclusive writer Leonora is invited to the English countryside for a weekend away, she reluctantly agrees to make the trip. But as the first night falls, revelations unfold among friends old and new, an unnerving memory shatters Leonora's reserve, and a haunting realization creeps in: the party is not alone in the woods.

I skipped a hundred pages to find that… I missed absolutely nothing. I wanted to DNF but as it was my first Ruth Ware I made myself go through it.
Also, I couldn’t connect with any of the characters. Couldn’t care less what happened to any of them.

I thought this started a bit slow & I had a bit of a hard time keeping the characters straight initially. Then once it got into the storyline - I couldn't put it down! I stayed up far too late finishing it! Then had crazy dreams based on the twists in the story!

I had no expectations going into this book, but I found that I was hooked after only a few pages, and the hook kept building and building. I ended up staying up half the night to finish the book all in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down. It was intense and made me cry a bit, and I woke up this morning thinking about it still.

If you love fast paced, intriguing, edge of your seat thrillers with well fleshed out characters, twists and turns, and gripping narratives, don't pick this book up. This is probably the least thrilling thriller I've ever read in my life. Incredibly predictable, boring is all get out, and absolutely not worth my time.
