A true 2.5 ⭐️ book. This is the longest it has taken me to read a book in a long long time. I had no desire to pick up and almost DNF because I was bored AF. Then, I finally made it to 60% and I finished the rest in a day because the book finally got good…like really good! Very emotional historical fiction story about the Soviet Union, I even teared up! I absolutely loved this story. A poignant mix of the tension between mothers and daughters and the enduring love they seek, but set in this spectacularly unfolding tale of life in Stalin's Leningrad during the siege. The truth about their mother is slowly peeled away, leaving the sisters with the truth each needed to reclaim her life after their father died.
