Cussy goes through it all in this novel. It's a story of true perseverance and courage. Against all odds, she commits herself to helping others even at the risk to her own life. The details of the story are told so well, you'll feel like you're part of the Appalachian community.

What hardship folks suffered during the great Depression. And how much more was suffered by anyone who wasn’t white. This story allows us to see into the lives of the blue people of the Appalachian mountains.
