Sarah's Key: A Novel

While googling, I just saw this is a movie now. This was such a powerful book, I don't know that I'd want to see the movie. But I did just add it to the queue....

This is one of my all time favorite books. It’s one that definitely stays with you.

Excellent book that transitions well between the past and present. This stores spans from WWII to more present day, and the story told was at once heartbreaking and moving. It's not a quick, easy read, but it's well worth the tears.

In order for a narrative conceit to work, it can't get in the way of the story. In this book, de Rosnay employs two conceits, one of which, alternating chapters between 1942 and present day, works fairly well.
