Yes yes and yes! I couldn't finish the old classic without much effort but THIS was hard to put down. A must read for anyone, but especially my brown kids who want to enjoy a "relatable" remix of an old classic

Reimagined classic, set in modern day Brooklyn. In Pride, Zoboi tells a timely story of family and love for place that has a little side romance. The book was read by poet Elizabeth Acevedo and much of the poetry in the book rings through in her voice. I appreciated this glimpse into a neighborhood that i would never have experienced but demonstrated there universality of family ties.

I love reading stories that are relatable and have people of color represented in the most natural spotlight. The discussion of gentrification, going to college, and having dreams while living in the "hood" was refreshing being a first generation college graduate and being from the hood and going back to help make change. I loved the book and Zoboi did a phenomenal job. I look forward to her future work.
