I thought I would like this book a lot more than I ended up liking it, which was rather disappointing. This book packs a punch. It's obviously based heavily on real-life Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her mother, although it's certainly its own story. Patty, the mother in the book, is utterly chilling in the unrepentant, casual way she skirts around her actions. Certain details, like Rose Gold's self-consciousness about her teeth, are realistic and make the characters feel real.
