Where the Crawdads Sing: Reese's Book Club (A Novel)

A #1 New York Times Best Seller and Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick, Where the Crawdads Sing is at once an exquisite ode to the natural world, a heartbreaking coming-of-age story, and a surprising tale of possible murder. Owens reminds us that we are forever shaped by the children we once were, and that we are all subject to the beautiful and violent secrets that nature keeps.

I read this book before so this was a second reading. I confess I got so much more out of it on second reading. I loved the description of the swamp, the animals and insects the first time. The second reading had me examining the characters more closely. The discussion between the ladies in our book club added more interest. I will definitely read it again in the future.

What a Journey!

This was such an interesting story about the books main character, Kya. It was at times an emotional read but I def enjoyed it. The ending left with a big shocker but also left me smiling!

Abandoned, first by her mother and then even...read more

I think of it primarily as a story of a piece of land, and how the land and organisms continue in their cycles regardless of what human behavior takes place there. Its so highly poetic in its natural descriptions that I almost forget that its also a thriller of sorts; a m...read more
