The story of a lady doctor in the early 1500's had so much influence in spite of rules and laws to keep her tucked away.

I wanted to love this as much as the book world did, but it was lack luster for me. The plot was hard to follow; I didn’t quite understand what direction it was going in or what the actual story was about. The character names were also hard to keep track off during certain parts of the story because there were so many. Over a lifetime of reading her novels, Lisa See is one of the few authors that I feel safe “judging a book by its cover.” Yet again I am entranced as Lady Tan enhances my understanding of who I am (woman, daughter, mother) as she relates the story of a life so seemingly different than my own.
